Our Patron

Message from Michael Jibson, Olivier Award-winning actor.

“In 1994 my mum asked me if I wanted to be involved in Hessle Theatre Company’s production of ‘Oliver!’ at the Hull New Theatre. I played Dodger, my brother played Oliver, and that’s where it all began for me – I was hooked! It became part of the foundations of the career I have today. I went on to be a part of Hessle’s youth productions, including ‘Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat’ and ‘Grease’ and subsequent Hull New Theatre productions including ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Hello Dolly’ and ‘South Pacific’ and was a proud member of the Concert Party. I remained a member until I was eighteen, when I left Hull to train at the Guildford School of Acting in 1999.”

“I owe my old friends in Hessle a lot and thank you for helping me find my tribe and shaping who I am today. I truly believe that local theatre is the most important and accessible connection to the arts that we have. Long may Hessle Theatre Company continue to be one of the premier local theatre companies in the North of England. I’m very honoured to have been asked to become a patron and I send everyone my best wishes for Hessle’s forthcoming productions!”
